Iran attacked by AC/DC

Posted on Tuesday, July 24th, 2012 in Culture by Nick

According to F-Secure’s chief research officer, Mikko Hypponen, hackers have attacked Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization. Using the tool Metasploit, they managed to shut down the automation network and hardware. The interesting thing is that apparently music started to play randomly at full blast at various different workstations. That music was the song Thunderstruck by the band AC/DC.

F-Secure does say however that “We can’t confirm any of the details. However, we can confirm that the researcher was sending and receiving emails from within the AEOI”. Right now we can take the story at face value, because of the recent Stuxnet attacks.

If I were the hackers I would of put on Here’s A Little Something For Ya by the Beastie Boy. I figure shutting down their system is something for them.
