Apple’s New 4G iPhone Found

Posted on Monday, April 19th, 2010 in Mobile by Nick

The 4th generation iPhone has been swirling in rumors for a while now. A while back pictures surfaced of it, but they were fake. Now though, we have the real deal.

Engadget and now Gizmodo have pictures and video of the new phone, apprently found in a bar in Redwood, CA (Near the Apple Headquaters). Gizmodo has taken apart the phone and verified that its full of Apple parts, and that this find is not a fake.

Features:

  • Front-facing video chat camera
  • Improved regular back-camera (the lens is quite noticeably larger than the iPhone 3GS)
  • Camera flash
  • Micro-SIM instead of standard SIM (like the iPad)
  • Improved display. It’s unclear if it’s the 960×460 display thrown around before—it certainly looks like it, with the “Connect to iTunes” screen displaying much higher resolution than on a 3GS.
  • What looks to be a secondary mic for noise cancellation, at the top, next to the headphone jack
  • Split buttons for volume
  • Power, mute, and volume buttons are all metallic

UPDATE: The phone belonged to Apple Software Engineer Grey Powell

UPDATE 2: Apple requested the phone back from Gizmodo and Gizmodo has done so
