Hero Of Sparta I Review

Posted on Sunday, May 16th, 2010 in Gaming, Mobile by Nick

I got this game today and felt like making a review about it. It’s a game you pick up and play, it has 8 chapters which each have an easy to follow story. Of course all stories will be clear at the end of the game.

The moment when I saw the game in the App Store I thought.. ‘yet another semi-3D’ game.
Well, I still don’t like 2D-3D games but this one really beats them all. It has fantastic 3D environments, realistic physics, lightning effects and much more. And you can move around in all directions which makes it a real 3D platformer.

The gameplay feels right, it’s not messy or clumsy, it feels pretty comfortable.
It’s a game I could easily play for about 40 minutes (and I’m not even a PC-PS3.. gamer).

Let’s take a look at the graphics (they might look sharp on the PC, but they look much better on the iPhone of course. It also depends if you’re using an iPod Touch 3G or 3GS. Some say their graphics look slightly better..).

A good game must have water right…

Yup, someone invited Tauren.

The framerate is quite high, you won’t notice any lag if you’re using an iPod Touch 3G. 2G users may occur some lag when there are too much enemies on the screen which mostly isn’t.

Chapter 1 finished, hooray!

+ PRO

  • Fantastic Graphics, probably the best in it’s genre for the iPhone.
  • Wonderful sound, it takes you into the world of Sparta.
  • The controls feel right unlike many other platformers.
  • Well modelled animations and environments, great lightning effects etc.

– CONTRA

  • Too much the same enemies, sometimes it feels like you’re repeating the same level.

= A very nice game, worth buying especially if you’re into RPG & platformers.
However I’d wait until Hero Of Sparta II comes out, 27 May.

$1.99, yup a nice price drop. Quite logical because Hero Of Sparta II is coming soon.
