If you haven’t noticed it yet, Newb Wired is powered by WordPress, the best blogging software out there. Here is a list of plugins for WordPress that I found that are a must have for blogs.
StatPress is a Google Analytics alternative custom made for WordPress. Personally, I like Google Analytics better overall, but I prefer StatPress when using WordPress. It has a custom dashboard with an overview of stats like visitors, page views, spiders, and feeds. Some of the stats seem to be a bit off when I ran it and Google Analytics side by side, but it works and its one less thing I use Google for (not saying Google is bad, but I don’t like to be tied to just one company for everything).

You can pretty much guess what SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam does…
SEO Super Comments
I’ve seen almost a double increase in traffic ever since I installed SEO Super Comments. Not all of the traffic is actual people (I’m looking at you bots), but it does bring it in. Also, I’ve made more than enough money to pay the hosting cost since installing it, so I recommend this to blogs that need a boost.
This plugin optimized WordPress for mobile devices, its good for blogs that have a considerably amount of mobile users.
WordPress Database Backup
I admit, I really lazy. Because of my laziness, I very rarely backup up the blog, which could result in some head banging if something ever happened. With WordPress Database Backup, I can have the backups emailed to me ever so often, so I’ll always have a backup handy.
(P.S: I’ll start writing posts that aren’t list posts soon 😛 )
