Cydia to be made much faster in new update

Posted on Wednesday, December 1st, 2010 in Mobile by Nick

Cydia, the app every jailbroken iPhone/iPod Touch has, has been recently updated. The new update is a major improvement over previous versions. modmyi says that the new Cydia update makes Cydia much quicker than before – “nearly as quick as the App Store”.

To install the new update, just jailbreak your 4.2.1 device or install it manually if you are jailbroken currently. To install it manually, download the .deb file here and place it in the ‘var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall’ (you may need to create the autoinstall folder).

List of Improvements:

  • reduced loading changes time
  • section remapping optimizations
  • faster reloading data
  • faster, native search
  • uses public SDK classes whenever possible
  • rewritten, faster web views with zooming support
  • changes badge works again
  • more stable webviews (no crashes when queueing)
  • redesigned settings page
  • redesigned stashing page
  • faster scrolling of table views
  • bug fixes
  • ads no longer break the package views until restart
  • much better queueing UI
  • stabler refreshing bar
