According to most Apple iOS users and even our own Louis, Android apps crash more than iOS apps. A study by Crittercism has shown that iOS apps crash more frequently compared to the Android apps.
iOS 5.0.1 leads both operating systems in crashes with a staggering 28.64%. The next closest to iOS 5.0.1 is iOS 4.2.10 with 12.64%.
Crittercism though tracks three times as many iOS apps as they do Android apps, so the below graph is a better graphic based on popularity.
Other things to consider:
- Android tells the user when an app crashes while iOS doesn’t
- Digitizor.com made a good point that iOS developers only have to account for two devices while Android developers have to account for hundres
- iOS allow developers to manage their own memory
